Ah...

It's all downhill from here. You'll be wiping her ass 6 times a day for a few years only to have her tell you she hates you when she is 17. Oh yeah... and you'll be a few hundred grand poorer.

I voted for I use it to get useful information and archive certain articles (print out, save to computer, etc) . I think when I first started moderating CSR I was trying to make it this and only this and after getting beat up left and right about overmoderating decided to let alot of things go. I think we have lost some of the above however I think we have gained more of a community feel as well. Tough call would be nice to have it all but that never seems to work. I think there are several members that would prefer it to be only the above and I think there are several members that could care less about the above.

Man... I've read that sentence now 5 times and still don't know what you said.

I need to go grab a beer.

I think everything above should answer everything anyone wants to know about "LIFE"

Truer words have never been spoken

:smt043Wes, Bet you feel all warm and fuzzy right now?

For the most part, the most useful thing about forums is the knowledge gained about what to look for or what to look out for. The problems people report are usually accurate. Someone reports the fuel tank mounts on their 240 failed and the next day I look at mine... and holy carp, mine are fairly close to pulling out, never would have noticed the subtlety without reading someone else's troubles... and now I know my boat is more reliable.

In aircraft accident investigation you'll find there's almost always a chain of events/problems that happened together. If any single link had been severed, the accident most likely would have been avoided. High reliability from your boat will make for safer boating as it is often one of the links in a chain (okay, a lot of boating accidents are from stupidity... but for the non-stupid).

Next, the solutions are interesting to read, but at times need to be taken with a grain of salt. People that are talking out of their butts should be called out before they cause someone a serious problem... and this includes me... if my head is up somewhere that the sun doesn't shine, I'm going to be a whole lot better off in life if someone calls me on it. If you're too mamby pamby to take it, then you're probably not going to be open to learning and what you offer will become stale.

I have also found through this forum that it's helped me a lot to decide what my next boat will be. Hearing what works and doesn't work for each model has given me a huge marina to talk to. That alone has probably saved me tens of thousands of dollars, if not hundreds...

And finally, I do find that I read this forum for a certain amount of entertaining wit. If it weren't here, I probably would have already left.

Good luck with the kids... you all forgot that when they turn 30, they'll most likely appreciate you again!

. . .that's about the point that they come back to you looking for money.

. . . if the kid has got their act together, and doing it "right" the money is going to be for something like a house. If the kid does not have their act together, it's going to be for something like credit card debt. Either way. . .their coming back looking for money.

And you are going to give to them.

Back on topic: I come for a little bit of fun. Occassionally, I get some real good boating advice and boating ideas. I got serious help regarding an overheat problem last year. My mechanic was stumped. This year, I got some good ideas for a new "skeleton" for my winter cover. I put in two votes to the poll.

Does anyone here use Atom feeds or RSS feeds on forums? Do you use desktop software (like MacJournal) to avoid using the web interface of each forum?

Over the last several weeks we have see some very entertaining posts here. Yes entertaining, it is very entertaining to read the interaction between the different personalities on the board. I have read comments like “keep it to boating”, “not worth my time to read”, “idiotic”, just the name a few, but in all cases the poster of these entertaining words must have read the original post in the first place. Come on now, you didn’t even crack a smile while reading it? Are you dead inside, I split my gut on some of these.

Some people have actually taken offence to the comments. Comments made by someone they only know through the keyboard. Come on now, lighten up some. To be perfectly honest there are some people here I would just love to meet in person. I’ll bet they know how to party. There is hope though, if I may use a quote by “billandamy” it would be:

“At least, these are the ones interesting to me. I LIKE to get to know people, their personalities, frailties, fears, enjoyment etc...I would never spend more than 5 minutes on a boring site where every thread is a diatribe of repetitive information. BORING.”

I have used this board and received some great information on boating. Information such as connecting my GPS to my VHS radio, and Smartcraft, hook up a digital TV converter, and let us not forget “painting the bottom of the boat while still in the water”. The last one I am having some trouble with as at my age I don’t hold my breath as long.

The best part of this site is if I see a topic that does not interest me I don’t have to read it. It’s that damn simple. There is a button on the main page called “Forums”. Use this to find something more appealing to you.

BTW, while I am on the subject, since you are on the site and reading useful information and bitch’n about others, why don’t you pull out your credit card and support the site with a donation. Yea, there is a button on the main screen for that as well.

I have only been boating for three years now, I have learned a lot. But there is still so much more. From this site I can draw upon the years and years of experience here. I have also learned not to answer someone back unless I have firsthand experience with their issue, a lesson best passed on to others.

Thank you Club Sea Ray. This site is just fine just the way it is thank you very much!

Hope I did not go "off topic",

 The first of many things needing assembly. Wait until xmas (or honaka?) The toys these days are wrapped for a nuclear (nukula) war. Takes longer to take them out of packages and get them prepped than the kids play with them.

In any event, on topic...

I take what I need from the site and vault it in my brain, or bookmark it. I have received a great deal of useful information from here, that I am sure I would not get from anywhere else.

I also come here because the vast majority of people are fun and entertaining. There are a few sticks in the mud who I feel have absolutely no sense of humor, but even they are ok with me. Im easy.

As far as I see, several times people have stated many people here wouldnt talk the same in person as online. I defy that personally. You will get the same either wise arse responses from me, or the same dialog here or on a dock, or at a bar. I am who you see in text here. Take it or leave it. Ill stand up to you face to face and tell you you are an ahole the same as Ill pat you back and call you friend. I find the cowardice when we had the red ball thing going a joke. I guarantee those same people would have been afraid of being laid out on the floor in person with me, so I agree in essence with the original sentiment.

Im rambling again...
