i plan on installing a new GPS in my 340 this WE which will require me to enlarge the existing GPS mounting hole in the dash....i will use 1/4" black starboard as a mounting plate to cover the existing dash hole....does anyone know the approximate thickness of the dash on a 2001 340DA?....i want to buy all the needed hardware such as SS bolts and washers before i go to the boat to save some time....the nearest Lowes from the boat is several miles away and traffic can be heavy so a trip there can take up well over an hour...i would rather spend that hour working on projects instead of fighting traffic....

i suppose i could just buy 2" bolts to be safe but i am not sure if this length of bolt would hit anything behind the dash....i'd rather buy properly sized bolts....

thanks...

The dash is one 3/4 plywood with two layers of fiberglass total is about 7/8 to 15/16. You can screw a new one in no needs for bolts no way to reach back there when unit is installed. there is 12 to 15 inches in back of unit.
