Gas will have to be above $10/gallon to really get my attention. And if that happens, we'll just anchor in a cove a couple miles from the marina and play on the jet ski.

Denial or delusional...for tc410 I'd say delusional.
Whaaat? All my boats just sip gas, but my 320 HP 'Ski sucks it like there's no tomorrow.

Nobody is delusional. The powers that be checked everything and its all good and legal and honest. The problem is the stuffing of the boxes that cannot be quantified., so no way to tell...

Man...you guys can't even discuss something as straight forward as gas prices without getting all political? :):)

If we could find a way to intertwine some religion and a Honda generator we'd have the trifecta here.
Gas is not straightforward because its ALL political. Most of us boatman are non-religious, so that's never part of the equation. If you like *** products, than that's another discussion all together.

Bullshit! All that tells me you don't use your boat much to go anywhere. I actually use my boat and $10 a gal is off the table. Not worth it.

Well, the fact is we are on an inland lake. About the farthest trip I can take is 65ish miles, which we do routinely. Over the last 5 years we averaged about 150 hours/year on the boat. But our main season is only 5-6 months long. So call bullshit all you want. You have no idea what my finances look like.

My ski is only 155 HP. At cruise, my boat burns roughly 12-13 gallons per hour. My ski is about 1/3 of that. Plus, in my crew, nobody rides the ski for an hour or 2 continuously.

Tennis might be better for you and your finances.

The effect $10/gal would have on boating is one thing but the effect it'll have on everything else is something I don't want to see.
Not arguing that for sure. But I am captive to the marina's on our lake and they take liberties with prices. It used to be I could look at what premium was at the gas station and the marina gas would be $.50 more. Last year, when premium was at or under $2 on the street it was $4.29 at the marinas. If that continues to hold $5 gas on the street could mean closing in on $10 on the lake.

Do you actually read the posts? How much beer have you had? I wouldn't even consider changing my boating habits until gas on the lake hits $10. Plus, I used to play tennis. The club I belonged to cost way more than boating. And then there was the cost of the knee surgeries. I'll stick with boating. But thanks for the sage "advice".

I don't care what your finances look like. That's not the point.
I make long runs and burn 100s of gallons at a time. Routinely make trips from the Tampa area to Sanibel, everglades, Keys, and the Dry Toutugas every year. I have a 400 gal capacity and make good use of it. There are guys on here that burn way more than I do and I'm sure it matters to most. Will we still do it? Yes to a point. At some point the cost will out way the benefit. I am 45 years old and have been boating since I was a kid. I remember back on my dad's small boat thinking how cool those big boats were and all the benefits of fresh water and ac. I worked my ass of to get what I have and probably surprised a few people along the way.
I'm not hurting as of now and I won't let myself get where I am. If I can't afford to do it the way I want then I'm out. And yes my boats are paid for. I spend well north of 20k on my boats every year. So yes fuel prices matter and with slip cost up as well as everything else I have noticed. But hey I know everyone one this site makes 1.5mil a year and all their stuff is free and clear so it doesn't matter.

When you start doing some real boat/fishing/cruising let me know.

1. I don’t drink beer.
2. You don’t have to belong to an expensive club to play tennis - most communities have free courts.
3. You’re welcome.

All I know is, if gas gets too expensive for me to use my gas hoist to lift the pig onto my plywood bow cover... then I am just going to park out in the bay, run the honda on the swim platform and blare some pillow guy preaching the gospel on the speakers. A man has to know his limits.
Don’t forget to fly your trump 2020 flag :D:D

Why would I let you know anything? You do you, I'll do me. You know why I don't cruise from Tampa to Sanibel, the evergaldes, Keys etc? Cause I don't f'ing live there. I do regularly vacation in Sanibel though. When I do move to the Southeast, I will buy a 50+ foot cruiser with diesels. And I intend to do the loop. But that doesn't make sense for where I boat. Not sure why you care how I boat, I couldn't give a shit less how you do. But yipee for you.

By the way, you may not have noticed since you don't post a lot, but one of the things that DOESN'T happen on CSR is shaming someone based on the size of their boat, how they boat or where they live (besides Canadians that insist on commenting on US politics).

I am sure you are an epic fisherman. We have some of the best trout fishing in the world on the lake below the dam that impounds our lake. i do real fishing, it's called fly fishing, doesn't require a boat, but does require a shit ton of skill and patience.

Gas prices have risen for 38 days straight…. Biden begging the saudis to pump more…. Energy independent one year ago…. I hope the supposedly 80M that voted for this shit are happy. If not wait a couple days when Russia takes oil to $120 and beyond…. God how stupid does this crap have to get?
