I know there's the wall in Monroe Harbor directly across from Buckingham Fountain where I can pick up some passengers.

Problem is, Monroe is so inconvenient for the Lincoln Park/Lakeview dwellers to access.

I had thought about having them walk to the Belmont pump-out dock, stopping there for a pump-out, and picking them up.

Any other ideas for a Belmont and/or Diversey pick-up?

This city makes it so damn difficult to get people! :smt089

One spot in the river is in front of the Boeing building right by where Randolph goes over the south branch. There is a ladder there that goes down into the river that I would pull up against. It was a great spot to drop off passengers who had to leave early to catch Metra trains.

That is certainly more convenient for my passengers, but I don't know about me. :D

To have to go through the locks, get them, go back out through the locks...on a busy Air Show day...is kind of a pain.

I might use the spot to drop off though...since we plan to go through the locks but later in the evening.

First where do you keep your boat? Schleping around the Loop or Lake Shore seems a whole lot more trouble and expense for the convenience of your passengers unless you want to start a water taxi business!:smt043

However, an alternative to what has been suggested is a restaurant at the corner of Clark Street and the River where I have seen boats tie up and the people go into the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is called Blandino's Sorriso and has outdoor tables right along the River which would make for a really nice dinner for you and your guests. The address is 321 N. Clark and the phone no. is 312-644-0283.

The boat "lives" in New Buffalo. Kind of a pain for city dwellers to take a 70 mile road trip, two lake crossings, and another 70 mile road trip. :) (More importantly, that's a long day...even with good friends. :)

Now I see your situation but here's another suggestion. If you are a member of a Yacht Club there in New Buffalo, you might be able to get some reciprical rights at the Chicago Yacht Club. Many years ago I ate at their facility at Belmont Harbor and the one at Grant Park. Neither would require going through the lock.

Thanks, Bob. (I'm guessing at the name but there's a pretty strong hint somewhere... :))

Unfortunately, not a YC member. I'm going to head over to Belmont tonight and check out access (from the ground) to the pump-out dock. I might time a waste tank dump with passenger pick-up.

Failing that, there is always Monroe...but sigh...
