I know there are people who tow jet skis behind their boat on plane, has anyone ever tried towing a jet boat? I'm looking at a 15' Seadoo Sportster and they weigh about 1500# dry but was curious if anyone ever towed one behind your searay while on plane?

I have a 2003 380 and wanted to see what others thought about the possibilities of this.

I believe you have to do some work on the exhaust to safely tow a seadoo or jet boat. You'll flood the engines if you don't...I believe. But I've never done it, hopefully someone far smarter than me will come along shortly.

And for what it's worth that's a pretty good size boat to be towing, even if you can do it safely. I'd hate to see a 15' boat on a rope behind a 38' boat in any kind of chop...

I’d be curious if you could get on plane with a jetboat behind you. Make sure the exhaust coolant pipes don’t need to be closed off before trying.

Yeah I knew about the fixing the exhaust tube to not flood the engine as I've seen that on other posts about towing jetskis. Never anything about a jet boat though.

Definitely wouldn't want to do it during rough weather and chop.... although just riding in a 15' boat in chop probably wouldn't be fun anyway.

We have a seadoo jet boat towed it behind our 340 with 8.1 and bravo 3s. It did take a little more to get it on plane however once on plane it would track just fine. Behind our 460 no issues what so ever. You have to make a good tow bridal and make sure a long enough rope to put it in the sweet spot of your wake. As for the water intake you need to put a shut off valve when your undertow or you will hydro lock the engine.

These are great boat and a blast to have around. We now have four of our friends that have them and we all run them around the lake together.

This is what happens when you put the wife in the boat just to follow along. My GF loves nothing more than jumping the wake on the 460. This pic is a very mild air born picture. She has had the boat about 8 ft out of the water.

They’re the same engines.
