Twin 7.4 Horizons
Okay, I have twin 7.4 horizons, with V-drives.. The last cruise I took, I noticed a sheen (oil or gas, not sure) coming from my Port exhaust in to the sea-water. I installed a new transmission cooler (changed the trans fluid), but I still see a sheen when starting the engine (and running at idle) in the marina.. Could this be residual trans oil that is still in the exhaust, or something else? I have not taken it out for a cruise yet because of this... Should I take it out for a cruise or diagnose something else? Any thoughts??

Also, the engine oil looks good. No decrease in pressure or quantity. Is it possible that it is gasoline? I've researched and see that there is a raw water cooled fuel cooler........ ?? The engine idles and runs fine, except for the sheen....

I would run it and see if it clears up, it's takes awhile to get an oil-fouled exhaust system to clean up, they don't get as hot as a car exhaust system, so they have to be "flushed" out as opposed to "burned" off....

That was it.. I took the boat out for a nice cruise and the sheen has now gone away... Thanks
