During a maintenance and shift cable repair on our 1996 Sea Ray 280 BR with twin 5.7L Mercruisers and Alpha One drives, it was discovered that most likely when the boat was built, the clamp on the transom water fitting had squished the fitting reducing the volume of water supplied to the starboard engine. This explains the mystery of this engine running at a higher temperature than the port engine. The mechanic says the only way to replace the fitting which is plastic is to pull the engine. Any thoughts on whether there is a way to replace the fitting without pulling the engine? Also, any thoughts on whether I should contact Sea Ray since it appears it was done when the boat was assembled?
