Trim limit/sender bracket

Does anyone know the correct way this bracket goes on for the trim wiring through-transom? There’s a completely flat side and a little bevel side. The manual just says to put it on but not specifically what side faces the transom. Does either side work? Just don’t want to have a leak issue in that thru transom hole! Thanks!

Looks like the flat side has marks from the bolt head from prior installation. The beveled side (unmarked) looks like it goes against the split seal.
