Last year my depth reading were all over the place, and I would get a high seawater temp notice. I believe both of these readings come off the same transducer. The boat hasn't been launched yet so I'd like to take care of this while its on the hard.

Any tips for figuring out if its a transducer issue, and how to replace it if I need to? Does this need to be down on land?

You have a transducer that is mounted thru a hole in the bottom of the boat so the boat has to be out of the water to replace it. BTW do not turn on your sonar with boat out of the water for more than a couple of minutes as the it can overheat and burn out.

How about a better description? Mfg, Transducer part #, and picture of the install? Usually the transducer has a part number attached to the cord, and Sea ray usually zip tied it somewhere that can be found.

They do go bad and if its a thru hull type can usually be replaced in or out of the water.

It's the one in this pic closer to the bow. I'll see if I can find a tag with a P/N

I'm curious too, my temperature reading has been off for 2 years now. B&G

While I still have fluctuations in my depth as well, and will probably replace the sensor this year (winter time), I recall adjusting the sea temp offests and found the manual page to see if this will help. I have a vessel view 1.5.

I’m assuming Raymarine, that would have been typical. Maybe you have an ST60 tridata display head?

There are two transducers, one for speed thru water and water temp which has a paddle wheel on it, and the other the depth transducer. The front one towards the bow is a ST800 transducer, and the other the depth…likely a D800 transducer.

If your getting erratic depth and water temp, I would pull the dash and clean, tighten the spade connectors on the back…

There are videos on YouTube to test you depth transducer on land using a DMM

the ST800 can be easily replaced in the water (there is a valve to prevent water rising in while you insert the plug), the depth transducer is a little more involved and I think easier on land

I have the owner's guide , Airmar Model P79. Have to replace mine also. Boat mechanic destroyed my cable in bilge.

Ain’t reading but about half way thru last summer transducer quit, gauge was all over the place. Come fall pulled boat, transducer covered In barnacles. Was bad last year. just fyi.

Best transducer i ever had was a few SR ago, dealer installed a thru hull in bilge on a new boat. Accurate, never failed. All these external transducers ain’t worth a dam. come haul out i am having one installed thru hull.

So help me out here folks: Have the ST60 display, transducer was cleaned before launch, but very erractic depth reading. Any suggestions on a fix/replacement without having to drill another hole in the bottom of my boat? 1990 350 Sundancer . Thanks.

The transducer that came with my Garmin gas v74 UHD Eco map is an awesome transducer for what it is supposed to do as far as depth and sonar
