Trump has a point on NATO expenses , if europe likes it or not . Not sure if it was smart to invite putin do "do what he wants" but he nevertheless has a point .

It cannot be other nato members intentionally sit comfortably under the nato umbrella and let the us taxpayer pay and do all the work for global protection .

Especially germany under merkel was a bit strange on the one hand buying russian gas for billions and on the other hand counting on usa to protect it against russia . I,m saying that as a german citizen .

But germany improves now .
It increases expenditures , it supports more in military terms and it buys gas from usa not russia.

Nato expenses must go into improving direct military capabilities of the members . While usa will stay the major military power other countries must increase its capabilities to effectively support combined operations if needed . It cannot be the excuse anymore "we do not have the military capabilities , we cannot help you"

Trump and ukraine might be a wake up call here , question is how he would handle it . Final goal should be to unite and not divide nato .
