Hi Guys,
Remember I had the port engine start missing trying to get on a plane around 3000 Rpm. Well so far the mechanic has replaced the rotor cap assembly, pints and plugs, and I still have the same problem. The boat runs fantastic at cruising speeds, sounds great, but missing getting on a plane. The mechanic thinks it’s the module the regulates the timing. When acting up he checked with the strobe light and found the timing erratic. So he is taking with Mercury, I will keep you updated.
Cheers Rob

Not sure if you have points and condenser, but a lot of mechanics never change the condenser, make sure yours did. Another issue could be the coil. They can basically overheat and fail.

I’m heading to the boat this week, I am going to check the resistance on the plug wires, just in case one is faulty.

Faulty ignition wires will not usually show up with a resistance test. They normally will fail under load.
The 40kv output from the coil will take the path of least resistance to ground.
If you don't know for sure how old they are, or doubt them in any way, replace them and make absolutely sure of correct firing order and routing to the correct plug.
