Underwater exhaust elbow

I have to replace an underwater exhaust elbow on my 1995 330 Sundancer. Has anyone replaces on of these? if so, are there any tips to doing so ? are there any gaskets between the hull fitting and the brass exhaust ? do you use silicon or 4200 for sealant ? Thanks in advance for any advice
