underwater exhaust

Im currently on a boat trip and pulled into port for a few nights....noticed my bilge going off continually. there was a steady stream of water coming in, had boat pulled and found out the the underwater exhaust elbow was missing, which resulted in the screws leaking. I was able to fix it enough to stop all water, but the question is to this group can I run the boat with out the exhaust elbow ?

I lost mine last season, had no leaks, but you shouldnt have any problems as long as those holes are sealed and not leaking.
