MERCRUISER WITH ALPHA ONE
I own a 1999 Sea Ray BR / Alpha One since 2004. On my shift control the switch for trailer is not working (everything else with the control is fine) new batterym motor runs great.
When I press the switch to bring the drive up - you hear a clicking noise as if no contact was made but the unit dont move, I check the reservoir and is about 3/4 filled, any ideas? :smt100

Does it trim up and down at all? Most that I have seen trim and trailer, some with the same switch some with separate trailer button. There are sensors on each side of the outdrive... one is for trim indicator and the other determines trim and trailer limits. They are prone to failure.

Welcome to CSR!

Thanks, mine does have two switches the trim switch on top works fine, the drive goes down ok, but when I want to bring the drive up with the trailer switch hesitates and after a few pushes it works, but now it just do not work at all. I will have to check both sensors and go from there, to see what it needs. Thanks again.

As a good rule of thumb, start by checking and cleaning all the electrical connections on the trim pump bracket - especially the grounds.

Oh, don't forget to check your battery cable connections.

Having worked on British Cars and their electrical systems for a while ( LUCAS the prince of Darkness), Dennis' suggestion is indeed warranted. Salt water and corrosion, check all connections clean and sand!!! 1st rule of trouble shooting K I S S, Keep It Simple S......!
