I want to upgrade my chartplotter which is a Garmin GPS541s GPS/Fishfinder combo with something newer possibly touchscreen. I want to be able to basically plug and play with the current equipment that I have connected to it that probably came stock. I did not have it installed so I don't really know what all is attached. Can someone help me find something newer that I will only need to replace the main unit?
Thanks in advance.
this is what I currently have and is flush mounted so I can not see what connections are currently connected.:

A few questions come to mind. How much do you want to spend? What is attached to it? How much real estate do you have to locate it. Everyone will have their own opinion of best brand. I can only say stay with Garmin. Ray customer service was horrible to me. Garmin seems most intuitive. You should probably take a ride to west marine and talk to a knowledgeable person there. That being said,if all you have attached is a transducer, you should be able to plug into any of the newer garmins. Garmin even makes a $69 adapter if the plug from your old transducer doesn't fit the unit. I have two 741xs units and love them. Not the cheapest units but not th most expensive either. Internal antennas, nmea 2000, nmea 183, Bluetooth, wifi, bnca video connection ECT. Most of that is pretty standard now. Good luck
