I would like to move up to a 2004-2006 320 or 340da. Am I better off contacting a broker to help find the boat. Anyone know of a good broker in the western Pa area?

Well, it looks like there are a lot of boats in my range of years and size for sale. Thanks

I get to beat all the experienced guys on here by saying "Don't skip getting a survey" when you find one you like. I see that everytime on here and it seems to be great advice. Best of luck with your search! When the economy improves I hope to be right behind you in the same search. They are beautiful boats!!

Made the same move from a 260 to a 320. I found mine on boatcrazy.com . You can also try zyachts.com eventually with lots of searching you will find exactly what you want ! Don't forget the survey !!! Also have a mechanical survey on the engines, transmissions, generator and a/c units. Lots of surveyors do not do the mechanical stuff. Good luck !

PM me along with your email address, and I will be happy to send you pricing information on what has sold in you area.

A few of us have purchased boats from a repo dealer. This approach has a higher risk but you may be able to get more boat for your $$. The primary problem is that the previous owner may have abused the boat since they knew they were going to lose it anyway. Also, have read about repo dealers that are, at best, less service oriented, to downright unethical.

All that being said, I had a great experience with the repo boat I bought. I found a very low hours boat, and hired 2 surveyors, one for the engines, and one for the rest of the boat. I followed the surveyor while they worked and learned a lot about the boat, and felt very comfortable that I knew the true condition of the boat.

If you find a repo dealer ask about their reputation on this board.

theres a place in south florida that allot of people have been getting there boats from called national liquidators.

I bought my 290 from a repo dealer in Virginia (Commonwealth Boat Brokers). I got a great deal, but it is certainly "buyer beware" - You can save a lot but you also are assuming more risk.

When I bought my 290, they had an absolutely beautiful 2006 320 (in-boards). I think they sold it for around $100K. The boat looked brand new.

The website for the Florida repo's is yachtauctions.com

If you buy a repo, be sure to budget sufficient funds to bring the maintenance (assume it needs everything) up to date and a reasonable budget for repairs. For my boat, after the survey, I budgeted $5K and spent every penny. In the end, I got a very dependable and clean boat (it just took a little time and effort to get it there....).

Good Luck!!!

I went from a 260 to a 320 and have been very happy with the transition. I originally had my eyes on a 340. But ultimately a 320 met the budget - for what I wanted. I think you will be happy with the transition. The 340 is a very similar boat just larger. We boat with a 06 -340 and have had lot's of time to compare. Personally I would be happy with either - the 340 gives you a bit more room in some important areas - bilge - front berth. That being said I wouldn't trade my 320 for a 340 for the additional $$'s. There is someone who has owned both and can give a better comparison. The 320 is great for idling no wake and idling. My 260 - I hated idling around on it.

Here is a 2007 Sea Ray 320 starting at $117K.

and a 2005 Sea Ray 340 starting at $130K

While the numbers listed above are the "minimum bids" - they will accept lower bids, and often sell below that price. That is just their marketing scheme to attempt to get more action on the boat.

You likely won't be able to trade your current boat in, but normally, you can do better selling your boat on your own (if you have taken good care of it). When I sold my last boat, I was able to sell it for $19K MORE than the dealer wanted to acccept as a true cash price on a trade-in.

Again...GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for all the info. When I find the boat I like I will prob sell my 260da at a great price to someone as long as the boat I find is a good deal. I'm having fun looking. I really like my 260 but my wife wants a bigger boat. I was able to talk her into a 320 or 340. She wants bigger than that but I really like the 320.

skolbe,
pulling the trigger on an o6 260 as we speak, great boat for the $$ and our current application (i think) just curious, what about idling around didn't you like?

The 320 is a great boat, but take a serious look at the room available in the bilges of the two. I can't imagine doing any work in the 320, but I do most of the work in my 340.

I'm in a 300DA and looking to move up (my boat is on the web). When I bought the 300 I looked at the 320. My only knock on it was I couldn't lie in the mid berth (I'm 6 feet) as it was too narrow.

Now looking at 340's to 380's. The range and power of the 8.1's on the 380 has me thinking diesel. Beware the "twofootitis!" :smt021

I loved the 260 - it was more an issue with being a boat with a single engine- where - I was constantly steering - whereas the 320 - seems like it requires less correction. Plus the 260 was fairly good on gas - so I would just prefer to run it on plane. You will be very happy with a 260.

Teh only advice I can give anyone is to reeeeally think this through. We love our 340 DA and she is perfect in any way except two. Sicen we live on her every weekend and one full week during the season we would like a bigger head with separate shower stall and a bigger galley with a full size fridge. So we really should ahve gone for at least a 380Da or 410DA. the 410DA is my perfect boat for the lake, not too big and has the extra size in head and galley we would really appreciate.
So think twice ... used boats are aa steal now and great 380DA and 410 DA can be had in your price range.

We still have our 260. My wife and I stay on the boat every Fri thru Sun. Plus we stop at the boat 1 to 2 days a week. Boating has got in the way of boat shopping. I want to be in a new to me 320 - 360 by next spring tho. My wife wants bigger.
