I recently upgraded my boat (2000 460 DA) to all new Garmin electronics. The transducer failed. Now the installer is telling me that the transducer fitting has also failed. All is under warranty. The installer will not pay for the haulout. I feel that since the entire warrantied system failed, the haulout should be covered by Garmin/Dealer. Anyone else have this issue before and how was it resolved.

That seems like a bit of a stretch but we've certainly heard crazier around here.

If that dealer had done your install on a 21 foot Mastercraft on a trailer, there would be no discussion of haulout. They'd do the repair, all would be well.

But I can see your side, you wouldn't need a haulout if their gear worked. I'd ask the dealer to split it with you. At least acknowledge that the size of the boat is not entirely within their control. See if they'll throw some dollars at you. If that fails, see if you can at least get a Garmin t-shirt or a sticker :)

That's like the warrantees include shipping - Not very common.
But if it is an installer issue then a different story.

Not any attorney but occasionally have to try to play one at work, negotiating various contracts. Unless they damaged the hull, I would expect the warranty to cover Parts and Labor, not Consequential Damages. Would I push back trying to get them to cover a haul-out, absolutely. Negotiate like Trump. Expecting much? No, therefore anything they contribute is a bonus..

Anything else need to be done at the same time? If not, a short haul shouldn't be too bad and at the very least you wont have to pay a diver for the month. some warranties are parts only - at least the installers labor is covered

Haul out Likely not covered. They have to limit their warranty exposure somehow. Best bet would be to combine the haul out with additional maintenance. Good luck.
