I recently got a new boat and trailer / project. PO said the engine was newly rebuilt about 7 months ago with 0 hours, I have recepts from the boat shop and everything. Boat has not been in the water since the shop tested it after the rebuild. I've been working on cleaning it up for a couple of weeks and now it was time to check out the engine. Started it up and no oil pressure? shut it down real quick. Checked the oil level, ok removed the oil sender from the engine and installed a mechanical gauge, 20psi at idle, kind of low cold. looked inside the valve covers and observed baileys irish cream. This was not like this when I got the boat. Pulled the oil filter more baileys, bad. Drained the oil same deal. Put in fresh oil and filter, restarted the engine with no flusher long enough for the oil system to pressurize, 30 psi cold @ idle. I don't think I wiped out any bearings. Now it's time to figure out where did the water come from? head gasket, intake gasket, exhaust riser, cracked block or head, kid with a hose? checked the exhaust risers and inside the exhaust manifolds. I did not observe any signs of water intrusion. I did notice the flapper valves were missing down stream of the risers, but like I said, I observed no signs of water backflowing from the wet part of the manifold to the dry and both the manifolds and risers are in like new condition. So on to the next thing. Remove the thermostat, reinstall the thermostat housing, isolate the cooling system to just the engine and pressurize it to 30 psi, then figure out where the system is loosing pressure from. Well it didn't loose pressure, it's been holding all day. At this point I'm leaning twords the kid with the hose. The only thing left to do is put it back together and run it with the flusher on and see if water gets into the oil again. If anyone has any input or ideas, besides a flair, I would appeciate it. Thanks in advance. Steve

I'm trying to understand how the engine has "0" hours, yet has water in the oil? Is the water in the oil from being run on a flush attachment after the rebuild?

Not exactly 0 hours. Boat was never taken out by the PO due to electrical issues, which I have squared away for the most part, now I'm going through the gauges. The boat shop tested the new install on the flusher and in a lake. Judging from what I've been seeing of their work they were not very through. Hose clamps loose, electrical hooked up wrong etc. But from what I can see inside of the engine it looks like it's been rebuilt. Do any of you guys know the ohms readings for the oil sender? My manual hasn't arrived Yet.

Went out this morning and the pressure dropped to about 15psi. I herd air comming out of the #7 cylinder, time to pull it apart. Anything short of a cracked block would be a good thing
