So last year I had a couple of water system fittings fail. The two on the water pump developed hairline cracks and an elbow elsewhere started to spray around the seal. This year one the the elbows that connects the water heater to the hot water “out “ line developed a fine spray leak that seemed to be the seal in it. Common denominator seems to age and the fact these are all in the bilge. I guess the heat and vibrations start to take their toll on these plastic fittings. Up here it’s hit or miss to find the 15mm fittings. Often they are sold out. Time to stock up on replacement spares I think.

I am curious if others that have this age of boat (1997) are seeing the same thing.

Same here. My pressure regulator went kaput last Fall. As I was replacing it this spring I noticed the fittings behind the panel, in the transom locker, had been leaking for quite some time. It was not enough that it was flowing out of the locker, which I would have noticed. Just enough that it appears as though it was constantly wet behind that panel.

Are you sure your rig is 15mm? My '97 fittings are all 1/2". My 99 340 was 15mm, frustratingly. I stocked up on parts from freshwatersystems.com and kept a stash on that boat...

'Can't remember which thread, but someone recently mentioned that there was a good chance that the mid-Nineties boats could be outfitted either way. Sucks when trying to patch things up.

Yeah. All 15mm. It’s a major pain in the ass. They only place to get 15mm here is marina chandleries and they are often sold out. Our marina has almost none left in stock. I was able to buy a couple elbows on Amazon but they came from the US so no next day delivery. Better that driving around to various marina to check their stock though. Thanks for the tip on freshwater systems. I’ll check if they ship to Canada.

Might even depend on which plant they came out of? Or what stock they had on-hand on the day they plumbed your boat :)
