Water tank fill.

We have a dedicated hose for filling water tank. When I store it for the of season, I use a 4 to 1 white vinegar mix to store it. A couple of times throughout the season, I take a water sample to my local water company and have it tested. It has always met the guidelines for drinking, although we do not drink it but do us it for washing and brushing teeth. I use the additive, Aquabon. A little pricey, but has performed very well for over 15 years of using it.

Thanks - we always use bottled water when camping so will continue now with the boat.
The other ? is draining the water tank? I see a tap on the hot water tank but don't see one on the cold water tank.
thanks

Just turn on your water until it stops. Pump will have nothing left. That is as empty as you will get it with out removing tank. For winter, I add the pink stuff and run til comes out all faucets (cold side). Hot side, drain hot water heater and run hot water for a bit to get some pink stuff in hot water tank, you get pink at the drain valve to know it is there. Then you will need to make yourself a bypass coupler to take the hot water tank out of the system and then run your hot water on all you sinks, etc until you get pink coming out. To get ready for new season, make sure hot water heater is back in line with system, fill water tank half full and run till empty. Mix 3 parts water to 1 part WHITE vinegar and run til get vinegar odor at each sink. Let sit for 4 hours and then run til empty. Fill tank with water and run til empty again. Fill tank, adding water treatment (I use Aquabon) and enjoy the season. Been doing water system this way for 23 years and our water is sparkling clean, ODORLESS and (according to our water company test) drinkable. Although we do not drink it.

Whatever water is left in the tank after running it dry will be inconsequential in terms of freezing. The same with the hot water tank - just drain it and let it be. There's really no need to run antifreeze through it. Sure, it can't hurt, but it's just more to do in the spring. We keep our water fresh/treated and drink it, so running AF through means a much longer process to get that taste out.

You have LOT's of room to work in the bilge in that boat. After draining everything, you can simply pull the cold water line out of the tank fitting and stick it into a bottle of pink stuff (this becomes your new "tank"). Then bypass the HWH and simply turn on your taps, one by one, till pink comes out.

You can bypass the HWH multiple ways - from quick and dirty with a garden hose, to valves. Even the water tank can be set up with valves.

Thanks guys - another late fall job to take care of.

The other part of the process is the engine. I have first hand experience with this when we lived in northern BC and much lower temps. Thank goodness for insurance.
