Looking good:thumbsup:

Now just let me know when you want to try that on a Blue Hull, I bet you can't get it look quite as good.:smt043:lol:.

Mike that looks really good. Did you use anything else besides the Mother's?

Nice job. I have to do mine next week. Is that a PC 7424 I see in the picture? Did you apply the wax by hand and then buff it off? What pads did you use?

Well worth the effort.
Looks Great!

Completed mine 2 weeks ago.
The advantage of heated indoor storage in the Chicago area.

After a nice bath,( the boat that is):

PC7424 for all apps. (First year using the PC7424 thanks to recommendations from CSR people. I love it!)

1. Meguiar's #49 Oxidation Remover (from rub rail up only. It needed it) Orange pad
followed with a (microfiber cloth in all steps)

2. Mothers Sealer & Glaze w/ white pad.

3. Mothers Carnauba Wax w/ black pad.

Last year, I used Meguiars #45 high gloss polish and #56 pure wax
for steps 2 & 3. I thought I'd give Mothers a shot this year.
We'll see how it holds up.

Total time: I'm embarrassed to say!

I love my PC 7424. I use it on my cars all the time.

I have so much work ahead of me....................
Now that most of my major project are done.....it's time to get the polishers cranking.

I bought a Makita 9227C circular polisher from an aquaintance I have that never used it. $100 and it works great.
Well I had the day off to watch the Midgets......
Any I had a couple hours after getting some errands done this morning and after the kids got back from school to begin some compounding with this thing. WOW!. I'm using 3M Super Duty Compound and I'm extremely happy with the results so far. I don't have time to throw any polish at it yet but just from what I have compounded it is looking great. I'll get some pictures up in the morning.

I have the Porter Cable 7424 to do the polishing and will use Star Brite Poly polish

Anyone got a wax recommendation for an older boat.. I just got a 1993 searay 170 that is in fair shape but not pristine. Also I was told to use a polymer wax? It is true or sill some good mequires work.

big moe
i wash the boat thoroughly. on toughter stains i've resorted to softscrub with bleach on a sponge MANY times - then a coat of 3m cleaner wax (westmarine or walmart sells it). then a coat of meguiars flagship. you may need to repeat the 3m a couple of times depending upon how much oxidation you have. i have tried every combination and permutation of all kids of stuff and for my older hull, this works the best. btw, i've alsu used meguires wax in a bottle (from pep boys) and i dont see a difference from the flagship other than cost (flagship is almost 3x the price).

see post #12 above for results. your results may vary
