Cummins 6CTA 8.3
Can anyone give me info on most fuel efficient cruising speeds and range?

Congratulations!

I am sure Frank Webster will chime in but the CAT 3116’s sweet spot is between 2200 and 2400 RPM. Fuel burn should be between 18 GPH and 22 GPH regardless of the model. That’s what my 400 Sedan Bridge gets.

Speed will vary based on winds, current etc. I typically get 19.5 to 21.5 kts at 2400 rpm.

Have fun!

Per motor that gives you about 200 miles then. That is what I was seeing elsewhere, but just wanted to confirm. Thanks.

That’s total burn for the ship not per motor. 22 GPH TOTAL or 11 GPH per engine. Very fuel efficient motors. I believe I have the motor info at home and can post it later.

Speak to FrankW. He can probably give you some excellent insight about what to look for on those motors and questions to ask your surveyor.

Not sure how much fuel the 440 holds but my 400 holds about 350 gallons. That gives you greater range than 200. I went 170 miles from Sturgeon Bay WI to Winthrop Harbor in IL on 1/2 tanks.
