Anyone running a Webasto A/C unit on their boat? Wondering how good they are. I found a good price on a 12K btu unit at Defender.com.

Webasto is a global manufacturer and there AC units are used across the marine industry, as well as their refrigeration units (Isotherm). I replaced my Norcold this spring with an Isotherm unit and have been very pleased. Webasto has a booth a the Miami Boat Show every year.

(I work for Webasto's Movable Roof Division, an OEM for the auto industry)

I dont but a friend of mine with an '05 340DA went with a Webasto when his Cruisair died. He loves it. It was much less than the Cruisair and seems to have more features. With the poor customer service I have had from Cruisair lately, it is doubtful I will be making any major purchases from them again.

Look into Mermaid also, they have 5yr warranty. We have 3 of them, Flawless so far. 3yrs into them

Try these guys, have 2 of theirs thru the years and a blow boat friend in the same marina just got one from them. Good people ask for Tom

Thanks for the tip Mike. Their pricing is about the same as Webasto and their pluses are "made in the USA" and no stupid circuit board control box. I will call Tom soon.

I installed a unit in my 268 years ago. Never did one and they were very hlpful. On the 340 I needed a new unit and Tom told me to go a little bigger and I did. He's the man. Had a problem and Tom helped over the phone!! Where do you get that kind of service????? BTW I was his very first EBay customer!!..

Regarding the FlagshipMarine units- I like what I see as far as the units go but does anyone know if they have any different digital control pad options? The ones they have on the page appear to be huge and look like something out of a cold war missile silo.

Jason in all fairness the one they sell only lasted me 2 years. Now I put a honeywell in from home depot....$50 cheaper same deal.I think it may have more options.

Ok well if you can put a Honeywell or other standard HVAC thermostat they I see that as a huge advantage over the others. Thanks for the information. I will definitely keep these guys in mind then. I figure mine will go sooner or later.

I use the 16k for my cockpit, it's a monster of a unit... Off the top of my head, 508 Cubic feet of air on high per minute!!!

Remote is great too!!
