Has anybody used a service that washes your boat once week?

How much does it cost and did you have any problems?

I recently paid a guy to come out the house to do a detailed cleaning of the hull, topsides, and cockpit of my 320. Paid $150, they cleaned every compartment and every inch of the boat and did an awesome job. Probably gets cheaper if you pay somone on a regular basis...I would like to hear what others pay??

I have a guy come every two weeks. He used to charge $50 for our 36' Carver. I don't know yet what he's going to charge us this year...

As far as problems? Other than an acceleration of my continued slide toward utter laziness... no complaints!

Just curious...I have never had anyone else wash my boat. After they wash, do they dry it?

Here in Milwaukee it is $1.50 per foot for weekly service. My dock neighbor has it done. WOW they even do the glass and Iesenglass. We still enjoy DYI but, I can see the day.....

My guy does dry it and washes the anchor locker, cleans the fish box and the boat sparkles. I come home on friday night to a clean boat and we go for a ride first thing.

I am a DIYer. I find it relaxing. But when my kids are older they are joining the bucket brigade...........

I admit it, I am cheap. I hate paying someone to do something that does not require any special skills. It has become part of our ritual. I only live 15 minutes from the boat, so I go down a couple of hours before the wife and get things spiffed up. Then she shows up with the groceries and off we go. I hate to admit it, but I sit at a desk in a stressful occupation all week and the physical labor feels good and seems to add to the enjoyment and relaxation factor.

I can't imagine paying someone for this type of work. I, too, enjoy doing it. Also, if you're not careful, you can do some serious damage.

Our younger daughter suprised Mom by washing her car a couple of years ago for Mother's day. Today, she's embarassed to look at the scratches as she is learning to drive that same car.

For me, having the boat clean when I come home on Friday night is a real treat. It takes 2 hours to wash and dry the boat. I would not have the time to use it if I washed it first, had dinner., etc. This way we go for a two hour putzy ride and come back in time to enjoy dinner. The guy who washes our boat does this for a living and is as careful as I am. I do wash it when we go crusing, but then our biggest decisions of the day are when do we shower and where will we eat?

Goblue+ Can you tell me what size and how much you are paying. I have a guy that will wash my 300 for 2.00 a foot. This is washing & drying the out side . Being for Massachusetts I don't think this is bad. It takes me about one hour to do it myself

dad's turn,
different state....same rate. My 300 is $2.00 a foot, but they clean the cockpit area also. Towel dry. I'd do it myself but I'm....uh....busy!

ohh, this is a philosophical discussion that I don't want to touch!!

I pay $2/foot twice a month. The boat stays REALLY clean and we have wonderfully impromptu gatherings at the boat void of bird/duck poop and spider droppings - yippeee

Same here. After a trip to Catalina, I clean the boat to a reasonable standard. Then my cleaning crew comes a few days later and after they are done the boat is immaculate. She is seven years old and looks brand new. That is what systematic cleaning will do. :smt038

Didn't see your post. Sorry. Yes you do have a good deal at 2 bucks per foot. I'm 36' overall with a hardtop. I mispoke earlier. It's $80 per week, not $85 as I said earlier. It's a good two hour job. The hardtop adds about 30 minutes. Getting hose out, washing the dock, filling the water tank and putting supplies away is about 15 minutes.
