Over the weekend i was running my 1999 340 without the generator operating. About 5 mins after i got on plane the generator shutdown alarm came on and stayed on. I went in the cabin and started the generator without any issues and alarm went away. On the way home from y weekend trip the same exact issue happen. Anyone ever experience this?

Do you mean the loud tone at the helm? How did you know it was the generator shut down alarm vs your mains?

Yes the tone went off and light turned on. The 99 340 sea ray has a dummy panel that tells you what the alarm is that is going off

That's interesting. Can you share a photo of the light that turned on? I had a '99 340 myself. I don't recall having a light/indicator for the generator on the boat I had. I only recall the alarm being the same as the engine alarms...

It seems very odd that the generator would alarm when it's not turned on and running. This is furthering my confusion :)

It's the very bottom light on that picture

That is interesting. I know Sea Ray's certainly varied each year but my '99 did not have that panel.

Nonetheless, it seems like you have something electrical going on if you're getting generator shutdown alarms when it's not even running? Perhaps start with the wiring schematic and see what triggers that alarm...I'd assume the ignition for the generator would have to be on for that alarm to activate. Perhaps you have a faulty switch someplace.

Yea i agree it has to be electrical. I'am going to start with the generator oil pressure switch and see where i end up

But you said the alarm sounded when the generator was NOT running, correct?
That is correct. I think i saw somewhere that even if the generator is off there is a chance the oil pressure could still ground out and turn this alarm on. Could also be a chaffed wire. Hope i can find time to work it soon. I will probably just remove the inline fuse on the generator and troubleshoot when the weather gets a little cooler
