I have a 2002 360 Sundancer with a Westerbeke 7.0kw gas generator. Recently changed the impeller, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs. Has around 700 hrs.

Two questions....1) How do you change out the zinc anode in the heat exchanger? It is way too close to the pan to just pull out. 2) I recently get a sheen (oil or gas, not sure) at start up. It is a black soot on the water, but it does not show up at any other time while it is running. Everything works - it powers the microwave, A/C unit, etc......and it runs fine. Very confused...

Thanks in advance.

plugs changed last year. Impeller changed this spring....oil, filters, and fuel filters changed yearly.......

Recheck your impeller. I get what looks like black soot when my impeller looses a vane. Can happen regardless of hours.

Double check oil level. A little over fill can cause this as well.

Thanks. I will re-check oil level this weekend, and the impeller....

Well........oil checked out OK. Still full.
Did not pull the pump/impeller due to time, but i did run the generator. Amazingly, no sheen. Confused and perplexed......
Thanks of the feedback.
