My Westerbeke 8BTD on my 400DB wouldn't start this year. Got the local guys to look at it and had them change the fuel filters and the oil. But they said the seacock was closed which is interesting as they were the only ones in my bilge when they winterized it. Then they said that it was hydro-locked. (Possible if it turned over and sucked water in thru the exhaust)? Said they fixed it.
Now they say the fuel injection pump is not delivering fuel and needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Saying it is 2 hours of labor to remove an install the injection pump.

Is that a reasonable estimate of time?
And where can I get either the pump rebuilt or replaced?

Any other thoughts?

I think 2 hours isn’t enough. The pump isn’t hard to get to but there is a lever you have to ensure is in the correct position as you install. You almost need three baby hands.

Well that sucks...

The motors on all these Westerbeke's are Mitsubishi industrial diesel engines, so I would suspect that most diesel pump shops would be able to work on that pump. If your going to have them dig that out, have the injectors pulled and serviced as well. They are easy to get to and cheap to have tested/serviced.

You can get the parts directly from Westerbeke, but they get a huge premium for their parts. Again a local diesel shop might have a better line on that pump.
