what engine temp?

my first boat.... 1979 220 weekender, 350 merc. fresh engine rebuild, water temp on the engine reads 220, and at the dash reads 200. I just shut it down. the engine reached that temp in about 3 minutes of running...:smt100

I believe normal temps. are 170-180F. Perhaps your stat is not working correctly.

should be about 145 i think.mine run about 145.they are inboards though.

Even tried without the thermostat, still getting hot quickly. And boat for sale? Sounds really good right now.

Perhaps water intake restriction or pump.
