I bought a boat and used it for the first time this summer and cant seem to figure out what to do when I take my boat out of the water at the end of the summer. Do I get:
powerwashing
detailing
outdrive service
tune up
zincs
engine oil
oil filter
spin-on fuel filter
flush and fog
shrinkwrap

In other words, what should a boat get done when it is taken out of the water? My boat has less than 50 hours on it, they did a tune up on it last year and said it is like new.

Sorry that's all I know. I just dont want to make any costly mistakes and get something I dont need.

Thanks

It's going to depend on what's already been done and where you live.

Basically,

Oils, filters, flush/fog/antifreeze.

Other stuff as needed or wanted.

The most important thing is to protect the engine from freeze.

Generally speaking it is best to change your engine oil and filter at the end of a season regardless of the hours you have put on the boat. It is also a good idea to pull the outdrive, check the engine alignment, grease the u-joints, splines, and the gimble bearing and inspect the condition of the bellows and look for any signs of water intrusion. Your outdrive gear oil should be changed as well the main reason being if there was any water intrusion it will be milky and you need to find any potential leaks. Plus if there is water in the drive, you risk it freezing and cracking the out drive. If you have a port-a-potti it needs to be empty and if you have a fresh water system it need to be emptied and winterized with antifreeze. If the boat was wet slipped all season, then I would also powerwash (especially if you don't have bottom paint) and change the anodes on the outdrive and repaint the outdrive if it needs it. And of course your engine itself needs to be winterized. I would also clean and wax the boat as well.
