Mine is pretty loud and I think it its of the electronic sensing variety. Kinda annoying listening to it every 2.5 minutes until it decides there is not enough water to keep trying? That cycling happens in the dead silence after the AC turns off through the night. My intuition says go with the smallest one I can find and hook it to a float switch....
