Twin 7.4l MPI v drive
I am in the process of cleaning up the front of my engine that looks like big rust bucket. After rebuilding the sea water pump on the 7.4L mpi engine I check the hoses going down steam from the pump to see if I can locate some of my missing impeller blades. I did find the pieces, but my question is this. Between the pump and the first heat exchanger (transmission oil cooler) is a sort of plumping piece that is in line with the hose between the pump and trans. cooler. At first I thought this was nothing more than connection item for the hoses. I disconected the hose at one end and found what looks like a water flow reducer to the system. Color of this part is blue and is made of plastic. Can not find any diagrams that shows that part. Does anyone know what this is?

I think the piece you are referring to is a tubular piece about 2-3 inches long with a blue wing nut on the side. This is simply a raw water drain. Remove the wingnut(be certain when you remove it that you find the small o-ring that seals around it.sometimes they stick in the housing.)and raw water will drain from hoses and raw water pump. Good for winterizing.

I know about the drain plugs you are talking about, but that is not it. I will have to go to the Searay dealer and talk to the service guys there. This item is not even listed in any of the service diagrams for the 7.4l mpi. It looks like something that was put there by searay after the motors where put in.
