I always thought we'd have burial plots, but my wife is adamently against it. She wants to be cremated. To me, that makes my life too temporary. Here today, gone tomorrow. I want to be made into a diamond with a synopsis of my life laser engraved inside. They do that now, you know. I'll cost about 10 grand, but hey, I should be able to afford that.

That's what I want - really. It'll have my birth/death dates, maybe a digital picture, family tree, and biography - perhaps history of boats owned.

What are you going to do?

A few years ago I was slipped next a beautifully restored wooden boat. No money was spared in the restoration. It came complete with a small but elegant wooden locker that contained the ashes of the origianl owner in a bronze urn.

Jesus, this is a rough one. It puts mortality a bit too close for comfort, for me anyway. I would prefer to have a conventional burial, but cremation seems like the path of least resistance.

Part of me agrees with you that cremation is like being here today and gone tomorrow, but perhaps your ashes could be scattered, at which point you are eternally out there?

The diamond sounds interesting, I guess we ultimately break down into carbon anyway. Do you have a link, I’ve never heard about it?

Ugh, I can’t do this post anymore, I’m going to the pool, then to the bar. It is too cold to go boating today, only supposed to be in the low 90’s…burr!!!

I'm working this morning (8 1/2 hours) and tomorrow PM (8 1/2 hours). Heading to the boat and beach for every minute in between in about 1/2 hour.

I thought this was a joke... But here goes. I'm going to decompose.

I'd like to become a fossil fuel.

creamated. ashes put in 3 equal piles.

pile number one goes in the front cylinder of a harley panhead engine.

pile number 2 goes in wife's glove compartment. if she gets stuck in the snow, sprinkle some under the tires for traction.

pile number three goes in an envelope, mailed to the i.r.s., with a note that reads "There! now you bast&rds do have it all!"

I'm going to have my ashes boxed up and sent to the IP address 72.144.46.171

You strike me as kind of the Ted Williams type. Hmmm, a monkey wrench to the head.

IP ident was SO last week...

Oh, here is a link that may come in handy, just in case:

Ash is very abrasive. That'll be the end of that cylinder.

I thought he meant his ashes would be melted into the mold of the cylinder. That would be cool.

That diamond thing is pretty cool. I likely will be turned into worm food...maybe I could be buried in our dock box.

There are a number of ancient religions that practice leaving the bodies of their dead on towers & allowing vultures to clean the bones. I've always admired birds that soar, buzzards, vultures, etc & would be OK with that as my final action.

So maybe at last all of these starving folks in Africa I have been hearing about for over fifty years will get fed.

I find it ironic that in over 50 years the same groups of people are still starving in this world.

I will be buried in plot along with my three brothers and our wives in the Veterans section of a cemetery here in Jacksonville, Florida where we already have plots. At least that is the current plan

Sam Kinison solved that problem years ago.

Funny guy. Saw him live twice at Rascals in West Orange. Nasty and dirty, but funny as hell. Damned if I know why he killed himself the way he did, considering the two girls who traveled with him.

Best regards,
Frank
