When will the absurd virtue signaling end!!!

I have no problem with it. I'm not the target of why these companies would do it and I certainly can't put myself in the shoes of those that it bothers. I'm just a white guy like most of the rest of you that pretty much had every opportunity I wanted available to me my entire life. And I think Aunt Jemima makes a crappy product, so I really don't care what they do. I'm not buying it regardless. I do live in a neighborhood where every street is named after a civil war southerner. I'm not a fan of that but not enough to make me move. So probably some hypocrisy there (which I think is a a natural human trait that everyone has). It does remind me how many people that live in the south are extremely proud of their failed attempt to leave this country, still to this day. That I have never understood since I was about 6 years old.

I'm curious.....beyond making liberals feel better about their emotional guilt, how does removing portraits, statues, historical monuments and brand images solve the core issues of racism?

A boating friend of mine who is black just says: "It means nothing to the Black community......just a bunch of white people trying to make themselves feel better".

Bingo!

I think you either have the public school edumacation version of the Civil War, and therefore don't blame you for your myopic perspective on '...people who live in the south...' which in and of itself is...ehem...racist.

But then again I do have friends that didn't know that Damn Yankees was two words until they were in high school. :p

A volunteer edited encyclopedia, edited by SJW in their parents basement is always my go to source for precision definitions.

In the real world "dark money" has evolved to describe the money Soros donates (not true campaign donations.) to elect the prosecutors in cities like Chicago and STL that will not prosecute criminals. The money the Koch brothers, (now down to one.) gave to support republicans to keep the borders open and cheap labor.

We got bigger fish to fry than corporations making speech. Which by definition is a collective of individuals banding together to say something. There is an obscure clause in the constitution that says something about something about assembly and speech, but can't remember it all...

I was in Plains Georgia once, and in the company of Mr. Jimmy Carter, at his church. He started his conversation, which really startled me, by saying, "did anyone hear of the stupidest decision the Supreme Court has ever made recently?" I said whoaaa!!! He followed up by explaining how the SCOTUS just ruled allowing corporations to make undisclosed donations to a political campaign.....if that wasn't an eye opener enough, he concluded by enlightening us all that most corporations in the US are not even American owned!
Yep, another country can funnel undisclosed amounts of money to a candidate of their chosen, in an US election. He suggested with that kind of money, their candidate can occupy air time 24 hours a day, and we see his words come true in all of our recent elections......I'm not defending any politician here, but when we allow other nations to fund a candidate of their choice undisclosed, and not even check ID's at a voting booth in some states...that is so akin to conclusion, just how do you blame anyone? Seems wide open to me.

I would add to the Captain's points that the "news" that Americans get today is created by corporations with similar issues owned by conglomerates that want to do business with the communist Chinese and other enemies of Americans freedoms.

Social media like FB and Twitter, (also most others.) are also under the influence of foreign countries and limiting American speech to gain markets in those countries.

I will always support free speech, even that with which I disagree, no matter the source. The people have a right to assemble and create speech, which a corporation is a type of assembly. At its core Citizens United was about the government telling a corporation they could not put out a video critical of Hillary Clinton.

Now while I disagree, if you wanted to say corporations must not discuss politics at all I'll go along if it applies to ALL corporations including ABC, CBS, NBC and all the rest...

I like CSR... I can’t debate anyone on my dock :(

Late to the conversation, but I am all in for getting rid of the Democrat Party seeing as the name alone represents the party of Slavery, Segregation, Jim Crow and the KKK.

(sorry, was I just Virtue Signaling?):D

just heard today that there is supposed to be a 'Unity Rally' in my town on 6/28. One of our former council members was at one of the protests in Pittsburgh when they vandalized the town and was streaming it live cheering on the carnage. We have a small town of about 9000. I doubt it will get ugly unless outsiders come in. I live about 1.5 miles from main street. Probably be on the boat that day but I won't put up with any crap when it comes to my property or my family. I have worked hard to get to where I am at and if they want to be where I'm at they can get off their a$$e$ and work hard to get there too.

The progressive/liberals want history erased. They do not want people to know that they were for slavery and were against the republicans who wanted to end slavery. They also don't want people to know the democrats fought against the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the constitution. It was the republicans who sponsored these amendments and got them passed.

Democrats formed and funded the KKK, and were instrumental in bringing about Jim Crow laws. The democrats also fought against civil rights.

Many of the first blacks first elected to public office were republicans as the democrats wanted nothing to do with them.

Even today, the only reason the democrats pander to the black population is for votes.

Would it matter to you, would it matter to any other of the closed minded people on this site... I have posted this and I will not waste another moment of my life trying to explain anything to people who don't care and don't want to care... I'm growing weary of my happy boating site turning into another Facebook page...

I think every one on this thread is closed minded,

I am certainly close minded about being thought of as closed minded. Everyone has their preferences and biases. It does not mean they are closed minded though. I think that many of the posters on this thread just share their thoughts from their perspective and it sparks some friendly debate. I know that sometimes I am moved to think of things in a little different light especially when other posters actually find and post new credible information.

Each year millions more brainwashed potential voters come of age. We got one last chance, Trump in 2020....and even for him it'll be tough to patch up the last 40 years of society's rot.

The fact that you continue to believe that Donald Trump is a man of sufficient character to go on holding the office of the Presidency, to me speaks volumes about who is actually brainwashed.
