Every year before I drop in the water, I use Meguiars one step and follow up with the Meguiars paste wax. The boat looks pretty good. I go to wash it before I take my family out on Memorial Day and I use OrPine boat wash on the hull first then the deck. I rinse it off good as I go. An hour later I'm looking at this mess and I have no idea what the hell happened. I find it hard to believe that doing the hull first and then doing the top side did all this damage but I guess it's possible. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did the wash soap dry on you? Or wash the boat brush get used for something else other than boat wash?

It sounds like you washed from the bottom up? Always wash from the top down. It looks like runoff from the deck.

That's a possibility if I started from below but I thought I rinsed it good. I don't use the brush for anything else.

Thanks.

I bet the soap may contain silicate (for alkali and water hardness control), when they dry without being rinsed entirely they will leave a chalky residue, (which can be tough to remove).

I have very hard (minerals) well water and it will streak like this at times, whats the water source?

Source is from the city line but it's looking like it may be from the AC discharge hitting the dock and spraying back onto the boat. I'm probably going get a hose the size of the ID and attach an elbow to it.

That's why I built and use a water softener for any water that hits my boat other than sea spray and rain that is. Its a very simple device that is commercially available as well.
Carpe Diem
