Im getting ready to add shore power and was trying to figure out where to mount my panel in the cabin.

If anyone has a similar boat to my 85 Amberjack 255, where was the factory AC panel mounted or if you added a panel where did you place it? Im also trying to figure out the best place to put the inlet.

Pics would be great if you have any.

Thanks

Thank you for the reply

I have been looking around for pics but most just show the outside

My 270DA panel is on the port side right above the steps down to the cabin. My dock neighbor with a 260DA has add on shore power with the inlet on the transom, handy if you back into your slip.

You might try SR customer service.
The online archives have the brochure, which lists shorepower as a factory option. Maybe some one there can dig up a layout for it?

Im actually pretty limited on where to put it with most areas i wanted to put it at has no open space behind it. so im going to make a box and mount that on a wall above the counter.

Think i should add some air holes or slots in the sides or bottom?? Not sure if it needs ventilation or not.

On my 88 weekender the AC Panel is port of the steps where you enter the cabin. The shorepower inlet and therefore its connections are directly behind it.

I received my AC panel, inlet, galvanic isolator & charger this week so im ready to start mounting. Saved a ton of money buying off ebay and got some great deals. Pretty much everything i got was at least 60% off what i would have paid at west marine.

I was going to mount the panel on the wall between the cabin and cockpit. With that just being a flat wall i would have to box the panel in and then mount it. I was all set to do that but then realised it was right above my alchohol stove. More than likely i wont even use this stove but decided it wasnt a good location in case i did decide to use it.

Im now going with my second location choice which is in the storage area with the sliding doors above the galley counter. Im still going to box the panel in before mounting in there and trying to figure the best way to do it. I think some black 1/4 inch starboard will do the job well enough. Im assuming i should add some ventilation holes in the sides or bottom??

I think im going to mount the inlet inside the cockpit behind the seats. I found a location under the cockpit lights in the back that already has a hole cut out but is just covered with the vinyl. Should be an easy install there with an even easier job of feeding the wire to the panel and be well less than the reccomended 10 foot length maximum.

Only thing im not sure of is how and where to hook up the galvanic isolater. I believe it goes between the inlet and panel and the main AC ground runs from the inlet into the isolater and then to the panel and DC ground. Not sure where i would hook to the DC ground though and will probably let an electrician take care of that.

Using 10-3 triplex cable from inlet to panel unless i find 8-3 triplex somewhere.

Any ideas on the best way to hook the ground to the isolater?

A butt connecter at the end of the main 10-3 ground run to the galvanic isolater and a piece of green 10 awg to the inlet work ok?? Or should i just use some duplex wire for the main wire (hot & neutral) and a seperate ground??or can i slice open the casing of the triplex to route the ground to the isolater?

I hope that made sense ... lol.

Yes i am going to get an electrician to check everything and install what im not comfortable with but just trrying to do as much of the wiring as i can.
