ok heres a dumb one. I have a 330DA that i have redone just about everything on. It looks beautiful, put the little oval screens on the windows look like crap. I cant figure out how to get those things out of there. I didnt want to pry on them too much for fear of hosing them up. Has anyone replaced the screens? How do you get them out? Do you recommend metal screen for the replacements or has someone had luch with other materials.

THanks

What year is your boat, my buddy had a 1997 250DA and was told the entire window needs to be removed to replace the screen.

btw... Welcome to CSR.

Hi welcome! What year is your 330? My PO fixed that issue, they cut the screens out completely. Solved the looking bad part but I don't have screens there. I too would like to know if there is a trick to getting new screens in there. But the level of work involved well I don't need to create more work and create a new leak where there is not one now... So I live with that solution until a better one comes along... I like you have far more things to update on our boat then the screens. The overhead hatches provide enough ventilation so far...

its a 1998. god...hopefully you dont have to remove the windw, but i could believe it if so, based on how unmovable they seem now. also based on the fact that i would probably have to pull an engine to replace the genset....lol.

Open the window, gently pry the rubber gasket away from the frame the screen and gasket are glued together.Cut the screen off the gasket, fabricate a new screen, glue it to the frame (silicone sealer)reintall the gasket.

You can also buy plastic rimmed pre-made oval screens that stick into the frame. I bought mine from Sea Ray. I recall they were cheap enough that I decided to do that over the fix stated above. Took about five minutes each to remove the old and stick in the new.

I just spoke to the parts guy, and he said that the screen insert comes with a new gasket for $34.99. Is that what you got? I was hoping for something that would pop in from the outside, so I don't have to disturb the gasket seal. Also, one of the ports is behind the head where there is no living space, and no access.

You've got 4 windows....that's $140 plus tax. If your windows are not leaking, you can fix this for less then $15. Get some silicone and some window screening from Lowes Depot. I did the above to mine and it worked great.

Yes, that sounds like what I got, but the parts lady gave me a discount (don't know why) and I think the cost was around $100 bucks for 4. But if you can do it for $15 for four, I'd do that. And yes, the ones I got have to go in from the inside.

It still sounds like you had to take the portlights apart from the inside, and remove the rubber gasket, right? I have cut the old screens out and saved them to use as a template for cutting replacements. The real show-stopper is that one of my ports is a "dummy", it's behind the wall of the head and there is no access to it from inside the boat.

Can this be done by removing the chrome ring from the outside?
