Windshield Vent Seal Replacement

Did you speak with Marine Max and the part number I posted in #11 above?
I just sent them a message. I was sort of holding out, hoping that FP Marine would come through by now. Getting close to launching so I am now is bit desperate. Will let you know what I hear back if any.

Colony marine helped me out with mine

That’s odd... colony called Taylor and Taylor fabricated it for me.... maybe talk to Taylor direct...

I purchased mine in Aug 2018 from MarineMax Baltimore. You can try them but just know this was for my window vent. They can double check size for you.

MM2403908 GASKET,VINYL CENTER VENT WINDOWC10 1.00 166.67 166.67

villain, I heard back from Elliot Anderson with Baltimore Marine Max and he stated that the product is not in stock and they would have to order it and wouldn't know how long they would receive it until it was ordered. He also could not provide a photo of the gasket profile as I requested. He did provide the price of $128 plus shipping.

Can you provide any photos or at the very least let me know if this gasket was in fact the exact replacement? Also, how did it arrive? In one long piece that you had to cut yourself or was it already pre-cut to fit?

Yep, good stuff. Comes in yellow also. That's the one we call gorilla snot, been using it for 40+ years.
How about that. I didn't know it came in anything but yellow. At a glance I just figured they changed the packaging.

The gasket was an exact fit and it was already precut to fit. It didn't take but maybe two weeks tops after i ordered it to get it. I'm sure any Marine Max can get for you. The P/N I provided was for my window. Not sure if its the same window you have or not so if you go this route just double check.

UPDATE:

-Marine Max- Baltimore is working with me to possibly find out if the part number that villain provided is the same one used for my 1997 330. They do not know the size/dimensions nor can they produce a profile photo of the gasket material. Not even a description of the material. I will not pull the trigger on that purchase until I am 100% certain this is it.

-FP Marine has confirmed the profile and gasket information and provided dimension confirmation. Unfortunately, because of the current status of the world it is taking so much more time to get the product shipped from overseas. Yesterday he told me that they are looking at another 45 days until this is in stock.

I will more than likely wait for FP Marine to stock this unless Marine Max comes through with this, but I am doubting it. I hope to launch the boat within a couple weeks so I guess I will have to tape up the glass/frame so water doesn't leak in in the meantime. This is such a ridiculous situation. Taylor should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting the products they make with parts. This is ONLY a 23 year old product that like all material exposed to weather and sun, WILL wear out and require replacement. Grrrr.

I have sent emails to Taylor with no responses. My information given included the windshield part number which I obtained from SeaRay. Not sure if they are working or not working currently because of the economic situation.

I found the remaining seal that I bought. I still don't know where I got it.

But I've got about 12 feet left over. I'd be happy to mail you both 6 feet. That would give you plenty to try it, mess it up, and try again. ;)

Just PM me an address if you're interested.

Rob
You got a part number for that? I would like to get some too... thanks

Have you guys considered taking a piece of the old gasket to an automotive glass / window or RV shop to see if they have something that is similar or would work?

I was getting the run around by Sea Ray and Taylor, i have the same issue with my 400 EC. I just purchased weathering from Autozone looks like it will fit in the channel, just have to miter the corners.. I’ll let you know how it works out 88188774-9267-4CCD-AC4E-F71F434C814D.jpegBF6DC936-1F90-4DA3-8255-78E94FA5C2B3.png

Finally I have received a response back from Taylor. Here it is...

"Thank you for your email. Unfortunately, we no longer have the vent gasket available and we cannot get it through our distributor. You can visit our web site to see if there is something that you think might work www.taylormade.com scroll down to the bottom select boat windshield parts & hardware. Please let us know if you have any questions."

Thanks for the info. I was able to get someone from FP Marine to contact me. They said that they are expecting some of that material in around mid June. I sent them photos of existing and a print from Taylor Made for this Extruded Foam. I'll let you guys know what they say. If I strike out I am going to have a local foam extruder make this profile so it can be cut and clued to fit like OEM.

I have been speaking with Ken (FP Marine) and he is telling me the same things. He has confirmed with photos, the profile and it looks to be dead on. He claims to have me on the list as well to contact when in stock.

I installed it with the closed end toward the window but the other way sounds interesting. I have a little bit of leakage with heavy rain and it gets more broken in to the window position and leaks very little now. If I put a little silicone in the corners it would probably be perfect. Let me know how it works out. Made sure you use the Loctite recommended for the corners to glue foam rubber together.
