$3100 for indoor heated, includes haul-out, power wash, and launch. OUCH!!!

By the way, this building and 2 others just across the road are all fully booked at those prices. If it wasn't bad enough, the gov't recently introduced a new tax (HST or Harmonized Sales Tax). Doesn't that sound nice - Harmonized? That added 6% to our existing 7% for a new total tax of 13%. We must like it, judging by the latest election last month - we voted the same guys back in that introduced HST!!!

Who's going to feel sorry for boaters though?? What I need to do is get a cover like Ron's!

Jimmy
In your case, the cover will pay for itself in one season. And yours will be much easier to handle b/c it will weigh considerably less.

Haul out, tow to storage & back in spring, bottom wash, winterizing including oil & filter changes for both 7.4's, outside storage & full shrink wrapping..... $2500.00 all in inc tax

Ron, please point me in the right direction for that cover!!

My last boat had a cover made of "stamoid" but I've been quoted an additional $2000 locally just to enlarge/tailor it to fit my current boat using the same material. Even with that, it would not go over the bow rails but snap around them AND I would have to install snaps all the way around the boat just above the rub rail - no sale on that idea!

Any info would be appreciated.

Give these guys a call. Fred Fisher is a great guy and he stands behind his products. This will be my 8th winter with this beast!

Sure thing. Lemme know how it works out.

Winter rest 2011.jpg

$6.95 Sq foot indoor heated with jack stands and bottom wash. Better than last year of $8.50 a sq foot plus $386 for winter prep. It took several months to get them to tell what winter prep was until they finally admitted they have no back up gennies so they winterize for you but don't tell you. This is the largest Sea Ray dealer in midwest! That's why for the first time I don't have dealer storage.

Heated prep is everything winterization is except flushing antifreeze through all raw & fresh water systems.*

Brutus,
Here's is what they told me was included in "Heated Storage Prep." They also told me that they don't have backup generators as you pointed out but said the buildings were gas heated and would take more than a day to cool down to freezing temperatures. For the difference they charge for winterization vs. storage prep they could buy a number of stand by generstors.

1.**** Stabilize fuel
2.**** Fog engines and generator
3.**** Change water fuel sep filters
4.**** Change gear lube in outdrives for stern driven boats
5.**** Drain all water
6.**** Disconnect batteries
7.**** In the spring, return to the boat and make it ready for launch (reconnect batteries - charge if necessary, refill water system, ensure boat is turn key ready - about two hours on each end - one charge up front

How do you calculate sq. footage of the boat? Is it just LOA x beam?

canvas covers are great, but for big boat they are extremely heavy... Plus you have store them... If you have back problems think twice about a canvas cover...

Yes. My heated storage is the same way. And the calculate from the FURTHEST possible point when getting measurements!! Mine is a 300 model, but ends up being around 33.5' with the platform and bow pulpit. That's the measurement they use for my storage; 33.5' x 11'.

Rod, you are correct. The canvas is very heavy. My boat is a two man job for sure. You have to build a frame for it (I used PVC) and store all the stuff in the offseason. The advantage Jimmy Buoy has over me is that he does not have a flybridge. This makes ALL the difference. You still need two people but you don't need to strong people. Rudy has the same cover on his Maxum 3300 (same LOA as me, less beam) and it's a snap. We get it up and in place in 10 minutes. My issue is getting the thing up to the bridge, but over the years, we started feeding it up like you'd make a sausage and it's really not bad at all.

It takes me 2 hours to assemble the framework by myself. Then I grab some innocent bystander for about 25 minutes to get it up and draped.

I struggled with the design over the years but have it pretty figured out at this point. Lower boats will not have any issues as they do not pose near the wind resistance that this boat does.

Some pix of the framework...
