I know it is the wrong time of year to ask, but does anyone know of a canvas shop that makes large cruiser winter covers. I checked Fischer Canvas but their price is more then I'm willing to spend. Also tried my local canvas shop but they weren't interested and actually referred my to Fischer. I have my shrinks wrap that can be used as a template. Just need to find the right shop.

Ive heard they can run upwards of $12-$15,000. Thats 14 years of shrinkwrap for me. Unless this is your last boat i would make sure its worth putting that $$ into it . Just my .02

I am guessing a winter cover for a 340 would be 2-3K ?

Do you mean something like mine ?

The local canvas shop that made me the camper canvas done it at the same time and IIRC 25 meters of "Sunbrella Plus" used to made the winter cover so calculate with your local fabric prices and labor for it.

I wanted the starboard aft corner zipper as same as the campers to open the engine hatch, windshield vent opening, port-aft door, 4 side grab handles velcroed and vhf antenna zippered. One thing I have to deal with is lowering the nav mast light to cover it.

I use it every time except gone for a ride and it protects the canvas and eisenglasses from sun. I can work in engine room with an extra led light and can enjoy a snowy/rainy afternoon while campers are completely dry and not dealing with birds dirt.

Hope it helps.

I'm looking for a full cover, bow to stern. Shrink wrap cost about $650 per year so if I can get a cover for around $2k it would be worth it. Fischer canvas was around $3.5k to $4K. I lucked out on my last boat by finding a custom cover used on eBay for $600. I'd like something similar but it doesn't have to cover the hull as much. I'd be happy if it covered the topside to just below the rub rail.

The 1 boat I knew about was larger than yours given the $12k. $4k is more manageable. If I could do mine for that price I'd do it also. My shrink wrap is almost $1000 let us know.

ps I've used 3-4 Long Island canvas shops over the years and they all seem to be within a few dollars of each other .

Joe.....I tried Doramar. Who else have you used/recommend?

You guys are paying upwards to $1000 for shrink wrap!!! Holy cow

I re-use mine. Just took mine off and took photos of framing to duplicate and I'll reuse next year and prob get a few more years after that.

My slip neighbor dabbles in canvas work, he made his own out of canvas for his 96 370DA. Bow to swim platform, down to the water line, said he had about $600 in materials, weighs 125 lbs.

Tim, I've used true blue canvas in lindenhurst (Trevor) A.M.C. canvas Copaigue (Tony) and Doramar gave me an EZ2Cy canvas guy in Freeport recently B&R canvas (Chris) he took care of me.
All 3 have done some work for me and seem to be close in they're pricing.

Fisher makes fantastic covers. And they do last a long, long time. It's a bigger upfront cost, but they do generally save you money in the long run.

Even though shrink-wrapping is very inexpensive given my line of work, I reuse my shrink wrap, too. I never go over 3 years, though. Just doesn't feel right and I would be so mad at myself if the shrink gave out because I tried to squeeze another year out of it. You'll never get it as tight as it was the first season, though (it will be wrinkly, too). And it probably won't cover quite as much of the boat (since you can't stretch it out enough... especially if it's cold outside). You also may need to add more supports/strapping or slightly redesign the support system, since the wrap isn't as tight.

Mine was $2k from Fisher. 3 year payoff when compared to shrinkwrap in these parts.

Bigger boat = more money. It's not only the length and extra labor time, but the boats are wider and have hardtops or bridges. That means a wider shrink wrap must be used, which is, of course, more expensive.

Wow.....How did you get that price from them? I called this time and the price was $2,900 for my 340 but if I order within 30 days they will give my 10% off. Your cover looks different too. I thought their covers were typically gray.
