I decided to buy a new battery charger. I bought a ProMariner ProSport 20 plus. I have three batteries. Two house group 27 and a starting group 24. The boat is a Sea Ray 280 Sunsport. Twin 350s.

My question is about the 110 volt input. It has a plug on it. Can I cut that off and hardwire it to my boat?

Is there a better charger for my application?

Thanks.

That would probably void the warranty. Why not put a GFCI outlet in an inconspicuous place and plug it in.

In my mind less connections means less points for a possible failure. My mind is a little off some times. That's why I ask. Lol.

Yes you can cut off the plug and hardwire it to the boat. Just be sure to crimp and soldier the connections. But I have to ask, why not return it for a bare wire/plugless charger?

Never, ever, ever put a 110v outlet in the bilge. Rather than cut the cord off, can you go into the charger and remove the cord from the terminals and hard wire to those terminals?

I didn't know you could get this model without a cord. That would be better. My charger now is hard wired.

I was a little nervous about putting a plug in the bilge too. It just seems like a bad idea.
