twin 325 hp 302 Fords
Hello, any body know where to pick up a Wiring diagram for a 1973 240 SRV? I have twin 302 Fords and as of lately 1 engine after 20 to 30 minutes of operation RPM's start going down and then slowly dies. Let it sit for 5 minutes fires right back up, I have been thru all the fuel issues and do not believe it is fuel related. I have replaced the coil, condenser, plug wires etc. Im down to thinking a possible faulty ignition switch, a easy enough deal to replace but thought I would as well try to locate a diagram.

Thanks for any help

Is your 302 Ford a MerCruiser, or OMC, or Crusader, PleasureCraft or Waukesha marinization?

The wiring diagram will most likely be sourced through the marinizer...

standard MerCruiser diagram...
check the harness for a resistance wire or ballast resistor, if so, they're a bypass wire from start solenoid. ifv that contact is sticking, coil will overheat. if the resistance element is failing, the coil power will fall off rapidly.

engine overheat could cause this too... are you seeing signs of insufficient cooling?

plugged exhaust?

Your 302 Fords... what drive type, and what MODEL is the engine and drive? Your title says '325hp 302', but MerCruiser never identified as such (and the 302 wouldn't reach that in marine trim under any circumstance) They DID identify the 302 in 4bbl as '225' model and also as the 225-S (all in serial range 3385721 - 4166999).

I believe the 225-S all appeared in 1974 production, and fell within 3856268-4200499, but I may be incorrect.

I've found about seven different diagrams for variations of the 225 drive system, I'll email them all to you... send me a private message with email address, and I'll attach them.

I had the 302's rebuilt and modified, running headers with thru hull exhaust. The drives are 888. Not seeing any signs of overheating. Thanks for the info!!! My email wtabi1@aol.com
Thanks Jeff
