Installed new Garmin 1242 that supports NMEA0183 network and need help understanding how to wire. The RM e120 NMEA wire colors are yellow, green, white & brown. The garmin colors are listed as;
Gray = NMEA TXB
Yellow=Alarm
Violet=NMEA RXB
Orange = ACC on
Blue = NMEA TXA
Brown = NME RXA
I understand the Red + & Black - but need help with the conversion - so much info out there its confusing. No radar on boat only RM auto pilot ST-7001.
Thank you

Here’s the Garmin manual and the RM e120 manual. Hoping for some guidance on this NMEA network stuff

The short answer to your question is take the Garmin Blue (+) and connect to the Raymarine White (+) and the Garmin Gray (-) to the Raymarine Green (-). With NMEA 0183 you can have two devices per connection. If your manual shots are correct you might have to cut the connector off to get to the wires directly.

To understand it a little better keep terminology together, Rx, Receive, Input and Listener are the same. Tx, Transmit, Output and Talker are the same. With NMEA 0813 Tx goes to Rx. The polarity is always the same + to +, - to -.
