Wont start. Maybe a fuse?

The engine turns over fine but won't start. Acts like there is no fuel (but there is plenty in tank). So I don't think its the battery.

Additionally, the gauges won't come to life either. So I checked all the fuses in the main box and none are blown. Is there maybe a fuse in-line somewhere to the fuel pump?

Any thoughts/advice is appreciated!

You may or may not have two things going on here. Check these simple things, first...

-- The "kill" switch at the throttle... the little red toggle switch thingy. Make sure it is in the up position.

-- Look in the bilge for a stand-a-lone breaker, not too far from the battery. It's black with a red and yellow part. Roughly 3" square. Make sure the "flag"/"arm" is pushed in. It won't be too hard to find it - there's not much going on in that bilge.

Always check the kill switch. Seems silly, but have seen it happen many times. Good news is, if that's the problem, it is a cheap fix.

First, I would check for spark at a spark plug. Next, I would check for fuel pressure. On my engine when I turn key on (but not all the way to start) I can hear fuel pump run a few seconds, to build up pressure then it shuts off. On the fuel line (on top of intake manifold) about in the middle, there is a schrader-type valve fitting for a fuel pressure gauge. Just take the black cap off and depress it and see if any fuel is present.

I had same problem on my 2006 5.0 MPI and it turned out to be slightly corroded connection(s) at the fuel supply module. I couldn't hear fuel pump run when the key was turned on and got zero fuel pressure when cranking. Mine would only happen intermittently, which made it difficult to track down.

The fact that your gauges don't come to life as well as the no start says to me that it's the purple wire... Check the voltage at the back of your key switch, you should see 12 volts on the ignition wire (the purple one)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I am a dolt. It was the kill switch. What a dummy.

Mocking can commence below.

hey at least you reported back that it was the kill switch. Most would not even let us know we helped with the problem.

No mocking needed. We've all made mistakes like that. Look at the bright side... this was a "freebie" fix!
