While that may initially sound expensive, I'm inclined to believe that he is old enough to have done it both ways, and is wise enough to have done the math before arriving at his current arrangement.

The neighbor divorced with two kids 15 years ago. Both kids are doctors. Then he met a woman around 42 with 2 small kids…. So he bought the house beside me to be a family. He never married her a year later she got caught cheating again.
