Zinc on a Westerbeke

I have a 4.5 Westerbeke Gen in my 2002 310 Sundancer.
I removed the Zinc there is nothing left on it.
There is no way to get the new zinc in without removing the heat exchanger.
There is no room between the mounting platform and heat exchanger.
Anyone have the same problem and any good suggestions

I have to cut about an inch off the end of the zinc to get it in. I change mine once a month.

Never had a problem getting one in... You use a short zinc, or you can cut on down...
