My only word of caution would be to make sure the sherwood/CAT impellers work in them. I suspect they do, but it would suck to be locked into a different impeller PN

Just rebuild your pump. No need to replaceI need to change the raw water pump in my 1999 400 DA with 3116s. Is anyone familiar with the JPR-S7632? I found that for less than $600, whereas the Sherwood P1710C was anywhere from $825 to $1,000. Just curious if the JPR is a quality product?
Unfortunately the major rebuild kits are almost as much as the whole pump if you include a new shaft. If you have the tools/ability to rebuild yourself, you can save a few $$$. However, no warranty.Just rebuild your pump. No need to replace
Tim had my old Yanmar pumps for well over a year.Unfortunately the major rebuild kits are almost as much as the whole pump if you include a new shaft. If you have the tools/ability to rebuild yourself, you can save a few $$$. However, no warranty.
MarinePumpDirect.com has the 1732C for $650 for the whole pump which should work for both the 3116 and 3126.
I bought new pumps several years ago and sent the old ones to designatedengineer.com for a quote. Hoped to reuse/keep as spares. He still has them and no quote. Good luck getting them rebuilt.
Tim is about worthless. I think when its time I'll just go with new again...they should be good for 10+ years the way I operate the boat. YMMV.Tim had my old Yanmar pumps for well over a year.
I got a little tired of waiting and had him send them back.
Disregard that...found this really excellent thread on the install.
CAT 3116 – raw water pump change/ replacement help
Hello all. Last weekend I did my oil & filter changes and after running engines, I have what is now a significant drip from the port engine water pump. After my last impellor change on this unit I was getting a very small drop every few minutes. It seemed minor (to me), so I let it go, but did...www.clubsearay.com
Typically the hoses are pretty reasonable. Same thing for a lot of other parts. Gets expensive when you start getting into metal parts!Uggity Mug...not my first boat so I understand marine prices and all...but it is my first dance with a caterpillar...almost $300 for 4 hoses and some clamps...I guess each leg of the caterpillar must be paid.
Looks like 2 threads on the same issue...probably better here in the CAT forum. So this happened Sunday\. Fired up both engines to run for about 15mins since I haven't cranked them in a couple of months due to it being cold in Ga. After I shut down the starboard engine I noticed my bilge coming on every 5mins, which is not normal. So I then go into the engine room to find the cause of the leak. Somehow the cotter key worked its way towards the front of the pump plate and rounded out a hole in the plate. Has anyone ever experienced this before? CAT 3126
It comes with the impeller kit. All things considered, pretty easy fix, cover plate easily replaced as well. I'd expect to do both pumps with a new impeller and cover plate. Port might be OK, but might as well save the time and trip and just get an extra cover plate...they tend to get scarred. No I didn't. Neither side had the impeller end cap. Changed both impellers when I bought the boat in 2021. Changed them again in 2023. I am glad you showed me this diagram as the previous owner had the boat serviced in Marblehead Oh at what was Salty Sams Marina which is now a MarineMax. I guess the service tech that replaced them before I purchased the vessel never put them back in. Do you have a part # for the end cap and plate from the diagram?
Sherwood states replacement plate is part #18742 is that the wrong part #? Is #22767 the correct one?
There are a couple versions of this pump and they all look pretty similar…I believe it’s stamped on the cover plate.Sherwood states replacement plate is part #18742 is that the wrong part #? Is #22767 the correct one?
