Help me identify these transducers - 340 Da

The DSM could be behind the dash. On my boat it’s under a cockpit seat but it was installed by the prior owner not Sea Ray.
I have everything apart and did a number on my hand (raw fiberglass cuts) pulling the radio control box (which looks like a dsm) out to remove all unnecessary items. Plus the control box had the vhf connector in the back and I needed to pull that anyway.
I have cleaned every inch of the rear cockpit area under the seats so I’m sure it’s not there.
I'm still thinking my boat was not equipped with a dsm. I obviously need to see where the wires on my transducer connect down in the bilge.
I am hoping one of the guys with the same boat and have done this will jump in here.

I just check a manual I found online for the c-80 and it shows the dsm wired to a specific port on the gps which mine was empty. Since I don’t really care about the dsm with a new Garmin gps, I’m still trying to figure out how my vv gets it depth?

This is what I had in my notes from doing mine hopefully that helps

Those transducers are not going to be connected to a DSM. Those are going to be connected to the smart craft system. One is the paddle wheel sensor for Speed thru water, and the other is a depth/temp sensor, that will only display depth and does not have any fishfinder capabilities.

A 3rd transducer would be required to have fishfinder capability.. Do you have a 3rd transducer somewhere in the bilge? With out that other transducer, you probably don’t have a DSM installed.

Dt - thanks.

After an hour on the phone with Sea Ray and Mercruiser, it appears as you said, my transducer goes into the engine harness per Mercruiser rep I spoke to. He stated that each engine has one of the sensors reporting to it. This is why it shows up on my vesselview and not my old gps. He told me there are not separate harnesses only the main engine harness plugging directly into my vessel view.

Sea Ray tech told me he was not trained to answer any question regarding my sea ray schematics referring to the tranducer and told me to see my local dealer.

I will need the exact part number so next trip to the boat is to pull the xducer and unplug from motor to measure and decide what’s next.

You don't need to pull the transducers unless you plan on servicing them (the paddle wheel is replacable). Just follow the wire and you will come across a white tag with dot matrix printing. Typically SR bunched up the excess somewhere, that while pain to get to is accessible. That will have the part number.

I agree I will drill down in the ER and pull the sensor to get dimensions and find where it is wired. I am confused because there is no white tag that I can see on the sensor AND - everything I read says there is a DSM but my schematic doesn't show this nor did I find it when I ripped the dash apart. Could it be in the ER? I don't ever remember seeing depth on the C-80 only on my VV. I checked my survey pictures and the depth reading was 0 on the C-80, which is why I ask does the VV get its depth from the engine wiring harness?

Any chance you have access to the page (drawing number) that states as the notes are called out? I.e Note 7 associated to item 12 or Note 10 associated to item 9.

Thanks

Hi Jesse - I’m not sure what you mean - if your wondering if I found what note xxx means I will say no. On some of the wiring diagrams there are notes called out, but none refering to the depth transducers that I could find. I did find the number of my transducer and got an email from airmar providing me an exact fit dt800 If you need it. This transducer will be on the nema 2000 network and show up on both my vessel view and the Garmin (I hope).

I thank you for the feedback.

Regarding the replacement I'm in need of...it's the 0 degree transducer that will interface with Smartcraft (SC5000). I've lost depth but still have temperature. It's original so I think the unit is shot. Do you know if 8M6004810 or kit 8M0122507 is a direct fit?

Just as a comment/note....I have a second transducer (P79 in-hull) that I have networked in the NMEA 2000 to the Garmin MFD. I like to have redundancy/comparative info on depth displays.

Thanks again.

In your #18 post are the transducers connected to the stb engine, #'s 9 and 12. Unless you bridge your Smart Craft network with he NMEA 2000 network, they will be independent. Unless the Smart Craft transducer are not working I would leave them alone and bridge the SC net work with the N2K network. Anything you put on the N2K network isn't going to show up on your SC network.

I would bridge your networks and then possibly add a new Garmin transducer for your Garmin MFD.

Sky- I have updated my system as noted on another thread like the attached drawing. At the time of some of these questions I was getting some inaccurate info about having a dsm. Anyway, my depth finder was always flaky so while doing my upgrade, I decided to go with a nema 2k depth sensor rather than use the vv to provide the sensor data over smart craft.

Basically I have almost everything installed and working, except for the transducer replace because I just can’t reach it and am waiting for a skinny buddy to do it.

I am just leaving the paddle transducer in since I’m configuring the speed to be using gps data.

In my drawing I show a future ”bilge” connection but the future is here - I ran a line into the bilge and have a tee on the wall which the depth transducer will wire to.

Jesse - not sure about those numbers since I moved to the nema2k unit.

Well we have a party where everyone is talking to each other.

I just need to start the engines and verify a few items, and pull the old tranducer and install the new one. Spent time tonight updating all software and charts. So far so good.
