Thanks for the comments. I closed on the sale of my boat within 2 weeks of the listing after about 25 inquiries and 2 offers in the first week! I’m now boatless. The new owner enjoys it immensely having sailed it to his home port on a 600 mile trip. The boat experienced only a broken exhaust...
I’ve had some health issues the past year that’s impacted my cruising. It’s been great since our Marina is 50 steps to the beach and even during lockdown boat owners were allowed to their boats. I’ll probably see how the health issues play out. I’ve enjoyed owning her the past 7 years.
Thank you to everyone on this site for the insights that gave me the confidence to list my boat myself. Yesterday I took video of the boat performing at 2200, 2300 and 2450 RPMs in the ocean along with cold startup and drone footage. Again, thank you for all the ideas.
I'm selling my 1999 Sea Ray 400 Sedan Bridge for Sale with Caterpillar 3126 420 hp engines (1415 hours) and Westerbeke 8.0 Generator (2550 hours) featuring 3 staterooms and 2 full heads. Video from 2/4/2021 shows the 420 hp Cats easily planning the boat at a 23 knot cruise at 2300 RPMs.
The...
Thanks everyone for the great comments. My boat has the kitchen on the starboard side where I believe there's a couch in the 2 stateroom model. It's easy to cook and walk out to the cockpit because they're on the same level. The steps down lead to a starboard stateroom with bunks that fold...
Thanks for the insights. I've maintained it meticulously with an excel spreadsheet documenting everything. It's a great boat but health issues have impacted my ability to enjoy it. This year I did extensive maintenance with the expectation to keep it for a long time but life does have a way...
Hello everyone. I've been posting and a member here since 2014. I'm planning to sell my 1999 400 Sedan Bridge, CAT 3126, 420 hp engines- 3 Stateroom. Great maintenance including Aftercoolers/Heat Excahngers/Oil coolers this year, new dripless shaft seals, bottom paint, cutlass bearings, Salon...
I have a 400db with 3 staterooms. I easily sleep 6 in the staterooms with an additional 2 on the couch. The 2 full heads are also nice. The sacrifice is a smaller kitchen and 1 couch in the salon.
No. My local Cat dealer and RPM Diesel here in Ft Lauderdale explained the process. I took my Turbos to RPM for their rebuilding and they were really helpful. When I picked them up they showed me which bolts to loosen and where the supply and drain gaskets go..they’re different. I’ve rebuilt gas...
That bolt is an absolute pain. I’ve removed and installed my aftercooler three times to tighten, replace the seal, torque it and have purchased special ratchets, sockets and wrenches just for that darn bolt. I replaced my starboard side turbo 3 weeks ago and I still see about 1/4 of a teaspoon...
Given the clean bottom and not overweight I’d check the aftercoolers. Mine started losing RPMs at WOT until I couldn’t get past 1700 RPMs both engines but no problem 3200 at dock and no load. Temps stayed under 180 just couldn’t get engines past 1700. Pulled aftercoolers and both were blocked on...
Yes Frank is great. Been here over 5 years. If you need any insights let me know and of course this site is amazing. My aftercoolers are at 3 star radiator for cleaning and testing, I’ve used them before. I have a turbo being rebuilt at RPM Diesel. Living in Ft Lauderdale gives us access to so...
