1970 Sea Ray 190 engine replacement????

Well, I have many years as an auto mechanic, I need to R&R the engine in my boat this is a 165 Mercrusier 250 cubic inch inline six. I do have a replacement already. Just not sure other than I need to build an A-Frame to lift the engine out, that I have a good idea of what I need.
Any special tools to remove the coupler or does the outdrive have to come off? Just not sure how the engine is attached to the outdrive other than what I can see from various illustrations out of Mercrusier parts diagrams online.

remove the drive first, remove rear mount bolts, 3/4 inch heads, remove front lags, lift up and out.
