I am new to boating but i have a couple questions about 88 sorrento boats. it has what looks like the original Chevy 350 and a OMC Cobra out drive with 200 hours on the hour meter. first is i am replacing the transom and stringers since the previous owner had patch repairs done to the floor and had removed the ski locker ( probably due to water incursion). the stringers are shot and the floor is rotten and following back i found the transom is soft (probably due to it not being sealed away from the stringers) so i am replacing it all. first question is what resin did they use during that year for that style boat, second is looking at the wood that was in the boat it looks like exterior plywood and not marine plywood. it has 1/2 inch stringers in it and that is what i am putting back in with 1/2 inch decking with stengthening in the high load seat area. i am not new to composites so it looks fairly simple and straight forward and i used to do hot rod, custom car, stock car, and pre peg and wet layup wings and tubs out of carbon fiber and honeycomb aluminum. i got the boat dirt cheap and the hull is in great shape so i can afford to put some money into it. so far everyone i have talked to loves the Sorrento and its classic shape and ride.
